Urogynecology

Urogynecology is a sub-specialty of gynecology and is one of Dr. Alqulali’s primary interests. Urogynecology is concerned with the dysfunction of the pelvic floor and bladder. The pelvic floor is a series of muscles located at the bottom of the pelvis and runs from your pubic bone to your spine. These muscles support your uterus, vagina, bowels, and bladder. Health conditions caused by pelvic floor dysfunction include overactive, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and prolapse of the vagina and uterus.

For many women, pelvic floor dysfunction is often caused by the stress of pregnancy and childbirth on the pelvic organs, as well damage to the perineum during childbirth. Pelvic floor dysfunction and disorders can worsen over time and with each pregnancy.

Pelvic floor disorders can prevent women from leading full and active lives, and may even prevent some individuals from exercising. Dr. Alqulali is an expert in Urogynecology and is dedicated to treating these conditions to improve the quality of life for her patients. The Infinity Medical Group offers patients both surgical and nonsurgical options to treat their pelvic flood disorders.

Dr. Alqulali is also trained in cosmetic vaginal surgery and performs the labiaplasty procedure for women who are experiencing discomfort or sexual dysfunction, or for women who are looking to change the aesthetic appearance of their genitals.
